The Mountain
Palgongsan is one of Korea's most sacred mountains — a site of unbroken contemplative tradition stretching across more than a thousand years. Its granite ridges and ancient temple groves have long drawn those who seek stillness, meaning, and the slow passage of time.
Traditional Buddhist mountain territory, home to Donghwasa and Gatbawi — among Korea's most venerated sacred sites, tended since the Silla dynasty.
Approximately 30 minutes north of Daegu city center — close enough to reach, far enough to breathe.
Four distinct seasons mark the mountain's character: cherry blossoms in spring, deep shadow in summer, flame in autumn, silence under snow.
The Path to Alexandria
We do not receive unannounced visitors. Every connection with Alexandria moves through three stages — each an act of mutual discernment.
All visits begin with a written inquiry — not a form, but a letter. Tell us where you are in your life, what brings you toward a place like this, and what you are quietly looking for. We read every message with care and respond within seven days.
Send your inquiry using the form below.
Before any visit, we arrange a conversation — by telephone, or in person at a mutually agreed location. This is not an interview. It is a conversation about your needs, your path, and which gate at Alexandria might call to you. There is no obligation on either side.
By invitation, following your inquiry.
From the initial meeting, three paths open. A day visit — arriving at dawn, departing at dusk — for those wishing to feel the mountain and the sanctuary before committing. A retreat stay of several days, structured around your particular gate. Or a residential inquiry, for those considering a longer chapter. All by arrangement only.
Day visit · Retreat stay · Residential — as arranged.
