Hospice Care

돌봄의 집 · Dolbom-ui Jip

A sacred place to complete life's journey
with dignity, peace, and love.

Death is not a medical failure. It is life's final chapter—and like all chapters, it deserves to be written with care. At Alexandria's hospice, we believe that how we die matters as much as how we live.

Our hospice is not a place of waiting. It is a place of living—fully, consciously, with whatever time remains. Here, palliative medicine meets contemplative wisdom. Pain is managed with expertise. Fear is met with presence. And the soul is tended as carefully as the body.

"We do not cure at Alexandria. We care. And in that caring, something more profound than cure often happens: acceptance, reconciliation, even gratitude."

— Dr. Minji Park, Medical Director

Our residents come from all backgrounds—Buddhist, Christian, secular, uncertain. We do not impose any belief. We simply create conditions where each person can meet death in their own way, surrounded by beauty, supported by skill, and held by love.

The Space

Where Beauty Heals

Our hospice suites are not hospital rooms. They are sanctuaries—designed to nourish the spirit even as the body prepares to release.

Private Suites

Each 35㎡ suite includes space for family to stay. No shared rooms. No institutional atmosphere.

Garden Access

Every suite opens to a private garden. Even beds can be rolled outside to feel sun and wind.

Mountain Views

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame Palgongsan. The mountain is present in every moment.

Natural Materials

Wood, stone, natural fibers. Nothing plastic, nothing harsh. Warmth in every surface.

Meditation Alcove

A quiet corner in each suite for prayer, meditation, or simple sitting in silence.

Family Kitchen

A shared kitchen for families to prepare loved ones' favorite foods. Comfort in familiar tastes.

For Families

Walking Together

Death is hard for those who remain. We support not just the dying, but those who love them.

Family Accommodations

Stay in your loved one's suite or in nearby guest rooms. Be present without exhaustion. We provide bedding, meals, and support.

Caregiver Support

Guidance on how to be present, how to touch, how to speak to someone dying. Practical wisdom for an overwhelming time.

Bereavement Care

Our relationship doesn't end at death. Grief support groups, counseling, and memorial services continue for a full year.

Our Philosophy

What We Believe

I

Death Is Sacred

The moment of death is as sacred as birth. It deserves beauty, intention, and reverence—not the sterile efficiency of a hospital.

II

Pain Is Optional

Modern palliative medicine can manage almost all physical suffering. No one should die in pain. We use every tool available.

III

Presence Is Medicine

Sometimes the most healing thing is simply not being alone. We ensure that no one dies without someone holding their hand.

IV

Meaning Matters

The dying often have unfinished business—words unsaid, wounds unhealed. We help complete what needs completing.

"My father came to Alexandria terrified of death. He left this world at peace—laughing with his grandchildren, watching the sunset over Palgongsan, whispering gratitude. I didn't know death could be like this. I didn't know it could be beautiful."

Investment

Cost & Financial Support

Hospice care at Alexandria costs ₩8,500,000 per month, all inclusive—medical care, accommodation, meals, spiritual support, and family stays. This is less than most hospitals and far more humane.

We believe that dying well should not be a privilege of the wealthy. Our foundation provides scholarship support for those who cannot afford full fees. Please do not let cost prevent you from inquiring.

"No one turned away for inability to pay."
